Melody for Loneliness

Pensive and
Cocooned in a corner,
I’m surrounded by sandblasted brick,
distressed timber and
flat-packed heritage!

The drone of background voices
blends with the dim, low light whilst
the plaintive shrill of a lone trumpeter,
bluesying-it in the corner,
paints my emotions,

I nurse a beer,
to comfort the moment, alone.

Cnwc y Glap (Talking Corner)

On a weather-beaten, windswept wall
The bleak backdrop of poverty is stark.
Work scarce and the population,
in this corner of the world,
is grey and disillusioned by
the gloom of economic and social constraint.

Drunk with enthusiasm,
Discussions at the wall change direction.
heartache, betrayal,
revenge, determination;
These harsh realities of life explained, momentarily,
in a stories trenchant retelling!

In this web of relationships,
connections emerge, as the
inescapable influences, of their shared lives
exorcise shared ghosts of experience and
create an illusion of reality;
before the protagonists return home, repentant!
